Where it all began...

Where I’d Rather Be was dreamed by co-founders Anna & Juliet whilst on a lighthouse walk in Sydney’s Palm Beach. It was raining and they were without umbrellas but agreed that the view was too beautiful to shield with an umbrella anyway! This got them thinking and the idea of printing amazing destinations on the inside of umbrellas was born.

And on sunnier days... !

Christmas around the World

There are many different Christmas traditions celebrated across the world, a lot of which are shared by various cultures. With Christmas just around the corner, we thought we'd get into the spirit of things and see how some countries enjoy the special holiday.

UK - Most villages, towns and cities are decorated with Christmas lights, the most famous are in Oxford Street, London.

USA - Deck the home with Christmas cheer! People in America like to decorate the outsides of their houses with lights and statues of Santa Claus, Snowmen and Reindeer.

Australia - Christmas at the beach only makes sense when the holiday takes place in the middle of summer! A beach swim in the morning followed by a BBQ and seafood lunch is a popular way to spend the day.

Sweden - St Lucia's Day, which takes place on the 13th December, first became widely celebrated in Sweden in the late 1700s. The celebration comes from stories that were told by Monks who first brought Christianity to Sweden. St Lucia's Day is also celebrated in Denmark, NorwayFinland, Bosnia, and Croatia.

Italy - One of the most important ways of celebrating Christmas in Italy is with the Nativity Scene, using a crib to help tell the Christmas story, made very popular by St. Francis of Assisi in 1223. Cribs are traditionally put out on the 8th December but the figure of the baby Jesus isn't put into the crib until the Christmas eve.

Argentina - Decorating houses with lights, wreaths and Christmas trees is a popular tradition. At midnight on Christmas eve fireworks & 'globos' (lanterns) are let off as a toast to the holiday.

Brief and sudden showers, relentless hammering on windows... pure, cleansing, romantic. What's not to love about rain?
